A letter to Adobe Flash
Okay, not the superhero. I’m talking about the programming language that appeared in the late nineties allowing for animations during the era where animated GIFs reigned supreme.
I’m really tired of the bugginess. And I’m really tired of having to update the damn thing every couple of days. And statistically, 80% of all web browser crashes are caused by Adobe Flash Player within your browser. It’s time to cut ties and move on.
Dear Flash,
You’re really beautiful. You are. And it’s not you, it’s totally me. I just prefer the sleeker, newer, more efficient HTML5 and her hot older sister CSS. Sorry. We had a good time, right? I mean, think back to the days when it was just text and a few low res images to fill my 15″ CRT. Wow, how happy was I to see your animations in all it’s crisp, vector goodness. I was in love.
But you’re really old now. You’re slow and honestly, you’ve got bugs. And that’s just gross.
So let’s not make this hard. Just go away peacefully and let us all be happy. Okay?
Love,
Lyn
